Physical & Movement

Animal Walk Dribble

Kids dribble in place while pretending to be different animals to build low, wide stances.

10 minSoloIndoor or outdoorYou’ll need: basketball

Dribble the ball with one hand while crouched like a frog, then a crab (sideways steps), then a gorilla (wide stance, low). Switch animal every 15 seconds. Switch dribbling hand halfway through.

The parent cue. Keep your eyes up looking for the parent, not down at the ball.

Team & Character

Assist Counting Scrimmage

A small scrimmage where helping a teammate score counts as much as scoring yourself.

15 minSmall groupOutdoorYou’ll need: basketball, hoop

Play a small-sided scrimmage where an assist (the pass right before a basket) is announced and celebrated the same way as the basket itself. Keep a simple tally of assists alongside baskets.

The parent cue. Look for the open teammate before you look for your own shot.

Team & Character

Cheer Squad Passing Circle

A group passing game where every catch gets an encouraging word from teammates.

10 minSmall groupIndoor or outdoorYou’ll need: basketball

Form a circle of 3 or more players. Pass the ball around the circle, and each time someone makes a good catch, everyone says their name and a quick word of encouragement before the next pass.

The parent cue. Say your teammate's name so they know the cheer is for them.

Why parents use HappyElite

Basketball is the start. The whole athlete is the goal.

Every week the app balances four kinds of growth: body, game sense, confidence and character. Activities match your child’s development stage, grounded in long-term athletic development research. A missed day is nothing. Progress is measured against your own child’s history, never a ranking.
