Real curling activities, parent included.

Each one takes minutes, uses what you already own, and comes with the words to coach it kindly.

Physical & Movement

Sweep the Path

A sweeping race: brush the floor ahead of a rolling ball without touching it.

10 min2 playersIndoorYou’ll need: broom, ball

A grown-up rolls a ball slowly across the floor. The child sweeps furiously just ahead of it, never touching it, all the way to the wall. Swap jobs. Collapse laughing as required.

The parent cue. Fast little scrubs, feet shuffling sideways. It's a workout dressed as a joke.

Game Sense

Guard or Takeout?

Every slide is a decision: protect your point or knock theirs away. Say the plan out loud.

15 min2 playersIndoorYou’ll need: bean bags or bottles for two players, tape target

Take turns sliding at the target zone. Before each slide, the child announces the plan: a guard in front, a draw to the middle, or a takeout of your object. Points for stones in the zone after all slides, like a real end.

The parent cue. The announcement is the drill. Choosing and saying why is curling's chess.

Physical & Movement

Living-Room Draw Weight

Slide a bean bag to stop exactly in the target zone. Curling's whole soul, on carpet.

10 minSoloIndoorYou’ll need: bean bag or filled bottle, tape or towel target

Mark a target zone across the room. Slide the bean bag so it stops inside the zone: too hard is out the back, too soft never arrives. Ten slides, count how many stay in.

The parent cue. Weight is a feeling, not a formula. Same smooth motion, tiny changes.

Milestones worth celebrating

What progress looks like, stage by stage.

No leaderboards and no age-group percentiles. These are honest firsts parents tick when their child gets there, at their own pace.

FUNdamentals

  • Feels the weight. Slides three of five stones or bean bags to stop inside the zone.

Learn to Train

  • Guard or takeout. Explains why they chose a guard or a takeout before sliding.
  • Routine before release. Breathes, aims small and releases the same way every slide.

Train to Train

  • Skips an end. Calls the shots for a full end and cheers every stone, theirs or not.

Why parents use HappyElite

Curling is the start. The whole athlete is the goal.

Every week the app balances four kinds of growth: body, game sense, confidence and character. Activities match your child’s development stage, grounded in long-term athletic development research. A missed day is nothing. Progress is measured against your own child’s history, never a ranking.
