Ice Hockey for kids,
without the pressure.

Canada's game: skating, passing and reading the play at speed. Youth programs delay body checking for years; look for clubs that guarantee fair ice time.

A core sport in the HappyElite library, with activities tuned to every development stage. HappyElite gives you 5 parent-runnable ice hockey activities across four kinds of growth, plus milestones that compare your child to one person only: who they were last month.

Real ice hockey activities, parent included.

Each one takes minutes, uses what you already own, and comes with the words to coach it kindly.

Game Sense

Two-Pass Rush

Driveway two-on-one: the puck must touch every stick before anyone shoots.

10 minSmall groupOutdoorYou’ll need: sticks, ball or street puck, net or target

Two attackers, one defender, one net. To count, a goal needs two completed passes first. Rotate the defender every three rushes.

The parent cue. The pass beats the deke almost every time. Praise the assist as loudly as the goal.

Physical & Movement

Crossover Circles

At a public skate: lap a circle both directions, stepping the outside skate over.

10 minSoloIndoorYou’ll need: skates, helmet

Find a faceoff circle or set two gloves as markers. Skate the circle leaning in, stepping the outside skate over the inside one. Three laps each direction, then swap.

The parent cue. Lean like a bike turn. The weaker direction gets one extra lap, gently.

Team & Character

Handshake Line Leader

Win or lose, your child organizes the handshake line and says one true kind thing.

10 minSmall groupIndoor or outdoorNo equipment

After any family game, the child lines everyone up for hockey's oldest tradition and leads it: eye contact, hand out, one specific compliment per player, goalie last and loudest.

The parent cue. Specific beats generic: "great save in the second half" lands better than "good game."

Milestones worth celebrating

What progress looks like, stage by stage.

No leaderboards and no age-group percentiles. These are honest firsts parents tick when their child gets there, at their own pace.

FUNdamentals

  • Skates unassisted. A full lap of public ice with no boards and no hands.

Learn to Train

  • Stickhandles eyes-up. Moves a ball or puck through three gates while looking ahead, not down.
  • Heads-up pass. Finds an open teammate before the defender arrives, most shifts.

Train to Train

  • Leads the handshake line. First glove out, says something kind to the other goalie.

Why parents use HappyElite

Ice Hockey is the start. The whole athlete is the goal.

Every week the app balances four kinds of growth: body, game sense, confidence and character. Activities match your child’s development stage, grounded in long-term athletic development research. A missed day is nothing. Progress is measured against your own child’s history, never a ranking.
