Game Sense

1v1 to Small Goals

Head-to-head 1v1 battles to two mini goals, rewarding both attacking and defending decisions.

12 min2 playersOutdoorYou’ll need: ball, cones or markers

Set up two small goals (cones a foot apart) facing each other about 15 feet apart. Two players play 1v1, each attacking one goal and defending the other. Play to 3 goals or 3 minutes, then swap.

The parent cue. Attacker: change speed before you go past. Defender: stay on your feet and show the attacker away from the goal.

Game Sense

3v1 Rondo Keep Away

Three players keep the ball from one defender in a tight space, sharpening quick decisions under pressure.

12 minSmall groupOutdoorYou’ll need: ball, cones or markers

Mark a square roughly 10x10 steps. Three players pass and move to keep the ball from one defender inside. If the defender wins it, swap with whoever lost it.

The parent cue. Pass to feet or pass to space and move, don't stand still after passing. Support at an angle, not directly behind the ball.

Team & Character

Family World Cup Tournament

A mini round-robin tournament with family or friends using small goals and short games.

25 minSmall groupOutdoorYou’ll need: ball, cones or markers

Set up one small pitch with mini goals. Pairs or individuals play short 3-4 minute games in a round robin, shaking hands before and after each game and helping reset cones between rounds.

The parent cue. Shake hands and say 'good game' every time, win or lose. Everyone helps with setup and cleanup.

Milestones worth celebrating

What progress looks like, stage by stage.

No leaderboards and no age-group percentiles. These are honest firsts parents tick when their child gets there, at their own pace.

FUNdamentals

  • Dribbles head-up. Ten touches through cones with eyes up half the time.

Learn to Train

  • Passes before pressure. Releases the ball before the defender closes, most possessions.
  • Weak foot counts. Passes and shoots with the weaker foot in games, unprompted.

Why parents use HappyElite

Soccer is the start. The whole athlete is the goal.

Every week the app balances four kinds of growth: body, game sense, confidence and character. Activities match your child’s development stage, grounded in long-term athletic development research. A missed day is nothing. Progress is measured against your own child’s history, never a ranking.
